trumpet stuff

Last Saturday I took my new horn on its first trip to New Jersey. The occasion was a jam session in Maplewood, a 40-minute train ride from my cave here in Babylon on the Hudson. My piano playing buddy John Cahalin invited me. He went to high school in Maplewood where he played in a band with two of the guys at the session. In all, there were seven of us: trumpet, trombone, keyboard, bass, guitar, drums and a singer. We sounded pretty good if I say so myself. John and I are playing in Jersey again in a couple of weeks, this time in Toms River with the fabled Villanovans. I'll report on that and probably have some photos to post.
